The school gate on Gordon Road opens at 8:45am each morning to support families with multiple school drop-offs and to minimise overcrowding outside the school. The gate closes promptly at 9:00am, and the school day begins for all children at this time. Parents and carers are encouraged to form a line along Gordon Road, behind the metal signage, when arriving in the morning.
A designated seating area is available for parents and carers who wish to spend a little extra time settling their child before saying goodbye. A member of staff is always on hand to escort families to this area if needed.
To help children begin their day positively, a free breakfast of cereal is offered to all children upon arrival. Staff are positioned at the gate and main entrance between 8:45am and 9:00am to provide a warm and friendly welcome, ensuring that every child starts their day with a smile.
Encouraging Independence
The school actively promotes independence by encouraging children to:
- Bring their book bags to school daily.
- Carry their own book bags.
- Hang up their own coats.
- Locate their pegs and put their belongings away independently.
Parents and carers are also encouraged to support children in practising key self-care skills, such as putting on and taking off coats and using zips, to help foster confidence and independence.
Children are asked to wear their PE kits to school on their allocated PE days, with confirmation of these days shared via Class Dojo.
Safety and Procedures
The school prioritises the safety and welfare of all children and families. To ensure the safety of the area outside the school, parking on the yellow zig-zag lines near the school gate is strictly prohibited. These lines are in place to protect children and families during busy drop-off and pick-up times. Parents and carers are kindly requested not to move or tamper with the school cones, which are positioned to maintain clear and safe access for everyone.
It is requested that children are accompanied to school by a parent, carer, or responsible adult.
If it is necessary to enter the school building during the day, visitors must sign in at the school office. For collections during the school day, such as for appointments, arrangements are made for children to meet their parent or carer at the office, where they are signed out. Proof of appointments may be requested as part of health and safety and fire evacuation protocols.
Collection Arrangements
As part of the induction process, parents and carers are asked to provide the school with the names of individuals authorised to collect their child. If there are any changes to these arrangements, the school office must be informed in advance. For safeguarding reasons, the individual collecting a child must be at least 16 years old.
End of the School Day
The main school gate opens promptly at 3:15pm and remains open for ten minutes to minimise congestion. Designated waiting areas for parents and carers are located alongside Gordon Road, with clear signage provided. Children are collected by a parent, carer, or a known authorised adult. Staff are available at the end of the day to say goodbye and assist families with any queries.
Nursery Timings
The Nursery offers morning sessions from 9:00am to 12:00pm and afternoon sessions from 12:30pm to 3:30pm.
